We kick off with “Forbidden Garden,” a collection by DANIELFEZ, a student from Estación Diseño’s Fashion Collections course. This collection, though not yet fully unveiled, is making a significant impact, having won the award for best collection at the V Red Cross Runway.

With this interview, we’re launching a series of articles aimed at exploring the upcoming collections to be presented at the V Estación Runway.

“Forbidden Garden” is a womenswear collection, crafted from organza, satin, mikado, and damask fabrics, featuring a rich and varied color palette. The women who wear this collection embody a voluminous and ethereal silhouette that transports us to the fullness of floral forms and the movement imparted by a breeze.

Let Daniel himself tell us about his brand and “Forbidden Garden”:

What are DANIELFEZ’s objectives as a designer?

Since I began to formally establish the brand, it was clear to me that DANIELFEZ represented my own personality. I’m not usually one to set long-term goals, but I am very clear that in this, my first collection, my imprint is distinctly visible.

As an immediate project, by presenting this collection, I aim for you to get to know me, to judge my work for yourselves, and to try to break into the fashion world by giving the brand stability and strengthening it. This way, I can reach the largest number of clients who desire my pieces. Ultimately, my goal is to offer quality, exclusivity, and, above all, to forge my path in this thrilling business that revolves around Spanish fashion.

On which global runway do you think you’d best fit as a designer?

Personally, I’m committed to supporting and promoting Spanish fashion with my contribution and ensuring that the “Marca España” (Spain Brand) gains even more relevance on the international stage. Therefore, MBFWM (Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid) becomes a perfect platform to globally showcase the work we develop with our brand.

Which celebrity would you like to see wearing your clothes?

Haha… very good question and a difficult answer. Without a doubt, that celebrity exists, but, above all, there’s that person who feels comfortable and identifies with the style we convey. Often, the “attitude” with which a garment is worn is more valuable than the social or media relevance of the person wearing it.

But tell us…

If you ask for names, the list of “muses” I’d love to see wearing my clothes would be endless. Among them, I’d highlight Alessandra de Osma, Cate Blanchett, or Carlota Casiraghi for the sensibility and personality they bring to their image, just to give you three examples.

Briefly describe your collection.

“Forbidden Garden” is a mystical journey through North Africa, to those secret havens filled with aromas and colors that invite us to escape, where nature wisely nourishes our spirit. This collection seeks to transport us to that universe of the unknown and the secret that we all carry in our imagination.

What does the name of your collection mean?

“Forbidden Garden” is that idyllic space referenced by the three great monotheistic religions—paradise for some, heaven for others. Ultimately, it’s the inspiration from those gardens hidden behind the inaccessible walls of many houses in Marrakech. That’s where the inspiration for this collection comes from, with the name itself leading me to open up a range of personal sensations and experiences that I wanted to share with everyone.

What is the most outstanding feature of your collection? Why?

I’ve tried, in a way, to sharpen the senses of the viewer through the use of color. Through sight, I aim for the spectator to develop their sense of smell, taste, touch, and hearing, in order to immerse them in the aforementioned paradise.

To achieve this, I’ve placed great importance on the artisanal work of embroidery, the evocation of floral forms through the treatment of volumes, and a carefully considered use of fabrics. In the case of damasks, they contribute that mystical and evocative touch of other cultures that I’ve tried to convey.

What role do accessories play in your collection?

All the pieces that act as accessories to the collection add accents of personality and meaning, further emphasizing its essence. From the glass beads adorning the embroidery, to the color of the hosiery that enhances the garments, not to mention the movement of silk in the fringes that resembles the movement of flowers in the breeze.

The appearance of bird earrings of infinite colors and textures reinforces the garments’ personality, evoking that moment when birds rest on flowers to feed on their nectar.

If your collection were: A novel, it would be: Madame Bovary A film, it would be: The Age of Innocence A song, it would be: The “Flower Duet” from Léo Delibes’ Opera Lakmé

After October 5th, what are your plans for your collection?

I hope and wish that my collection sparks interest and is appreciated by all those who identify with the type of couture we create. That will be my greatest reward: feeling that they enjoy it as much as I have felt and loved it throughout its creation. It will be in their hands to decide whether I continue to showcase it and try to make my way in the fashion world.

Besides “Forbidden Garden,” what else will we see at the V Estación Runway?

The effort and dedication of many months of work will be reflected in the V Estación Runway. We’ll witness a serious and arduous reflection by the designers when creating a fashion collection. The professionalism in execution, the identification of the style each of them has tried to convey, and its visual and aesthetic coherence are merely the fruit of the endeavor and perseverance that Estación Diseño puts into guiding each and every designer, who, supported by a magnificent and professional team, have tried to extract the best from each other to arrive at this “Fashion Festival” of Granada, which is the Estación Runway.
